0-to-1 Product Engineering
Blank page to shipped MVP—architecture, prototyping and hands-on delivery when speed and judgment matter most.
I'm Omar
I turn ambitious ideas into real products—with startup speed and CTO-level assurance.
For 20+ years...and I still ❤️ it!, I've founded ventures of my own and helped founders, boards and venture studios turn uncertain ideas into working businesses. I combine hands-on product engineering with senior technical judgment—from first prototype and fundraising through to teams, governance and scale.
Selected organisations I've built with
Senior technical judgment when the stakes are high, with the hands-on ability to turn decisions into shipped work.
Blank page to shipped MVP—architecture, prototyping and hands-on delivery when speed and judgment matter most.
Board-level unblocking, leadership and accountability on demand—without the cost or delay of a full-time hire.
Battle-tested through fundraising and stakeholder management—I know what investors and acquirers look for under the hood.
Lean, service-design-led venture creation, honed inside some of the world's leading venture studios—and productised at MP Ventures.
Senior assurance directing a frontier-model pipeline that has already shipped real products—one operator delivering what once took a team.
Hiring, structuring and scaling cross-disciplinary technical teams from zero.
Different stages and sectors, with the same thread: finding the right technical move and carrying it through.
At 3P Learning, I invented core functionality for Mathletics' real-time learning product, helped it scale to a global user base and led the company's international expansion.
Outcome From an Australian “small business” to an international, IPO-bound education technology company.
I co-founded MediQuire, moved to New York, and helped pivot the business into an analytics layer for hospital EHR systems—combining product, engineering and fundraising from day one.
Outcome Pre-seed funding, Blueprint Health acceleration and a $5m+ Series A.
I have led technical due diligence on venture-backed companies, advised multi-national consultancies on internal tooling, and shaped technology and governance thinking around a nationwide supermarket merger.
Outcome Decision-ready technical insight for leaders without the time or appetite for theatre.
I've spent the last two decades as a technical startup founder and product engineer—five companies founded, with consulting and fractional CTO engagements woven between the ventures. That range matters: I can move from a board conversation to an architecture decision to a working prototype without losing the thread.
Today I co-run Mercurial Phoenix, my London consultancy and venture practice, and lead MP Ventures—its fixed-fee offer that takes a founder from idea to working business in a month. We stay lean by design, using an AI-native pipeline hardened over real builds to deliver at a pace and quality that once required a much bigger team.
Building the technology that makes ambitious ideas real—and going where I see the puck moving.
When I'm not partnering with you, you'll find me losing gracefully on a tennis court, hunting down the next piece for A Collector's Refuge, standing a little too long in front of a painting, or quietly campaigning for the fact that a proper martini is a Duke's martini—ideally at Duke's Bar itself.
A would-be member of the International Bar Flies (IYKYK), I'm incurably restless about seeing old and new friends around the globe—so much so that I built Jeevesy to keep track of the memories. I'm equally content at home in my favourite chair with my Bengal cat, Kashmira, going nowhere at all.
